Course Description:
This is a survey style course that addresses current trends and events in k-12 education. Participants will gain practical experience in classroom management, lesson design and presentation skills using the latest in techniques and technology.

Primary Learning Outcomes:
Participants will:
• Apply concepts learned during the week to create classroom material that benefits teacher and student.
• Use state academic standards to guide decisions made about curriculum and document them in all submitted work.
• Demonstrate competency in writing and presentation software for communicating; and multimedia and web-tools for engaging learners.

Course Materials:
Upon enrollment the participant will receive the following: A registration bag, all handouts relevant to the week's presentations, FAQ's sheet

Course Requirements:
• A minimum of 45 hours devoted to Professional growth activity. 40 hours of planned class / computer lab time and 5 hours devoted to creating the final project.
Submission of final project in digital format. This project is to help the participant in the classroom. Modify an existing document or plan using concepts learned in the 5 day course.

All people participating in the educational process at Fresno Pacific University are expected to pursue honesty and integrity in all aspects of their academic work. Academic dishonesty, including plagiarism, will be handled according to the procedures set forth on page 8 of the Fresno Pacific University Catalogue.

Day 2
• Computer Lab - Podcast tutorial
• Lecture: Kristine Colbert
Assignments:
• Each participant will end the day with

Day3
Webpage building with Karen Eathier
Assignment:
Participants will build a class webpage
Day 4
Augment webpage, wiki tutorial, bring publisher supplied tech material to incorporate into curriculum.
Assignment:
Participants will determine what they accomplish that day.
Day 5
Promethean / Logical Choices Presentation
Sharing Final Projects
Assignments:
Complete evaluation
Submit final projects
Grades are Credit/No Credit (CR or NC). Credit is equivalent to a B grade or above. Letter grades are not issued.

100pt - 80pt = Credit
79 and below = No Credit

Participants are evaluated based on successful completion and submission of:

1. Time log recording a minimum of 15 hours per unit of credit- 50pt
2. Completion of daily assignments and participation in all scheduled events.

Completion of these items will result in a passing grade for the participant.

*Students should seek approval of appropriate district or college officials before enrolling in these courses to satisfy any degree, state credential, or local school district requirements. These courses are post-baccalaureate, professional development units that are not part of a degree program, but are designed in collaboration with school districts and other service providers to meet specific staff development needs.
